Mufti Irshad Ahmad Aijaz chairs the Shariah Supervisory Board of BankIslami in Pakistan and the Shariah Advisory Committee of the State Bank of Pakistan — one working bank and one national framework, at the same time.
On the Amanah bench he works principally on banking structures and the governance frameworks around them.
His work runs to the parts of a bank most reviews reach last: treasury placement, liquidity management, and the operational steps between a certified structure and what a branch actually does on a Tuesday.
He graduated from Jamiat-ul-Uloom Islamiyyah in Karachi, specialised in ifta at Jamia Dar-ul-Uloom, and holds a PhD in Islamic sciences from the Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre.
