The courtyard of a historic endowment

Trust money answers to a different standard.

Zakat and waqf are not products. They are an obligation and an endowment held on behalf of others, and the governance question is the same in both: can you show where the money came from, where it went, and on what basis.

We advise funds, charities, banks and platforms on calculation, eligibility and distribution, and on waqf structures meant to outlive their founders.

What comes up in zakat and waqf.

  • What is zakatable.Stock, receivables, restricted cash and holdings in funds each carry their own treatment, and the answer changes the number.
  • Transfer of ownership.Zakat has to reach an eligible recipient. Structures that stop short of that transfer are the most common finding we make.
  • Timing.A zakat year that moves with convenience rather than with the calendar leaves a gap someone will eventually audit.
  • The waqf corpus.Preserving the endowment while investing it is a balance the founding deed has to settle, not the investment committee.

We publish the standard.
